As a companion volume to The Antique Buyer's Handbook which dealt with the major categories of glass, silver, ceramics and furniture, this volume covers a much more comprehensive range of items, all of which have the imprint of a particular style. The author shows how to identify period by style, and demonstrates how constantly changing but recurring motivations have changed the styles of the last few centuries.  He also includes a section on Australiana which examines those areas of Australian life and history which have produced particularly Australian antiques: the early potteries and silversmiths, scrimshaw, carved emu eggs. The types of bottles shown are beers, bitters, salad oils, vinegars, pickles, chutneys, ginger beers plus ointment jars and pot lids plus many other types..
