The pioneers of this company came from the UK and opened a store in Sydney, New South Wales and later, in Brisbane, Queensland. This story is an account of the events whilst in business until 1980.  It was then purchased by Christopher Skase of Qintex who then sold it to the McKinney Family.  It was then sold again and was purchased by Wallace Bishop a Brisbane Jewellers company.  Good condition.

S/C  (John Gunn) 1st Edition 1990. 479pp. This is the second volume of the history of Qantas, following on from the first volume "Defeat of Distance" and covers the dramatic story of the Qantas war-time operations. After the Japanese thrust southward in 1941 - 1942, the airline faced extinction having lost its main routes and most of its aircraft. After the war the airline's rapid emergence and expansion across the Southern Indian Ocean to Africa and the Pacific to America, Qantas became the first airline ever to operate a scheduled service circling the entire world. Condition: The cover and edges are a little foxed but overall the book is in good condition. Special.

He then moved into Queensland politics and served as Minister for Justice and Attorney-General for 8 years. On his retirement he took up the position of Agent-General for Queensland in London in 1971. This book is very readable volume of great human interest and a record of an important era in Queensland history. Very Good condition.
